On the afternoon of October 21, the Criminal Investigation Command (CIC) announced in a statement that CIC Commander Jeon Chang-young (Brigadier General of the Army) had “met with the director of Western Branch of the United States (US) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and the director of the Asia International Corruption and Crime Team of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to discuss ways to strengthen the investigation capabilities of the ROK-US criminal investigation agencies.”

The CIC added that Commander Jeon, the director of the Western Branch, and the director of the Asia International Corruption and Crime Team took the opportunity to share their opinions on multilateral ways for the two countries to cooperate in fighting cyber security and terror threats, as well as in military-related investigations.

The vice director of the Western Branch of the CID visited the CIC on April 26 to discuss cooperative investigation between the ROK and US militaries. During the meeting, the CIC gave a briefing on its experiences of defense crime investigations.

“This meeting was a meaningful chance for the ROK-US criminal investigation agencies to build an efficient plan for investigation cooperation and a cooperative network. We will continue to promote investigation cooperation and cooperative activities between the investigation agencies of the two countries,” Jeon said.
